Frequently Asked Questions.
Who is taking our pictures?
You are booking Chris Yates. At times I may employ an additional photographer to assist me on the day with set-ups, admin and some secondary image capture.
What is your wedding photography style?
My style is very informal and relaxed, capturing events as they occur without asking you to continually pose for the camera. Some clients ask for formal images, some relaxed and more candid/ reportage style.
My natural images are taken when people are unaware of the camera are often preferred to more traditional formal portraits. The images can be delivered in a mixture of colour and black and white or simply either or. I am extremely adaptable to your requirements and this aspect is discussed well in advance.
What areas of the country do you cover and would you be willing to travel?
I am based in Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire. I am willing to travel anywhere in the world. We do not charge for travel in the region of 100miles. For locations over 100 miles away we do charge a standard mileage rate of 40p/mile.
If the venue is to the end of the country or abroad, prior travel and accommodation may be required. In the case of overseas travel, flights/ Visas and accommodation costs will be an additional cost.
How long and what is included in your photography coverage?
This is dependable on the package you request. I don’t hold the day to a stopwatch and there are occasions when timings do slip. Packages can be tailored to your day and If needed, I can also stay on request later. (Additional charges may apply).
Will you arrange the group shots at the wedding if we wanted?
Before the wedding I will give you a template list to complete with a number of group photos, e.g. the wedding party, parents on both sides, your brothers & sisters, boys from the stag party, girls from the hen night, and a final group shot of everyone. I will coordinate this working with the best man and ushers we can normally complete these groups within 30/45 minutes, allowing you more time to spend with your guests.
What happens if it rains on the wedding day?
I don’t like to talk about the ‘R’ word but If it does, I always look for a back-up plan to arrange the photos. In most cases a shower will pass and we can get back on track.
How long will it take to see our images?
This is the most important aspect from my perspective! I like to deliver an initial selection of images to the bride and groom within 24 hours! We aim to have all of the images delivered in digital format within 14 days of the wedding. Printed images are dependent on orders and requested delivery.
Can we make prints directly from the hi-res images that you provide?
Yes, we will provide you with your choice ofpresentation USB that contains all of the edited images of your special day. The images are in a high-resolution format and are print ready.
What if my family and friends want prints from the wedding day?
No Problem. Online albums and galleries are created to they can be shared with family and friends across all social media platforms. Anyone that has access to the galleries can browse and purchase prints in any format. Digital download or in a huge variety of print sizes. These can be ordered online and will be dispatched to their door.
What happens to my wedding files?
I save several copies of all of our wedding files on external and online drives to ensure that they are stored safely. However, we will only commit to saving files for 1 (One) year.
We are getting married overseas, can we still book you to photograph our wedding?
Yes, indeed. In a lot of cases this is a fantastic option as you know who you are dealing with prior to your travel and a lot of planning and coordination can be carried out prior to departure.
What equipment does Chris Yates Photography own?
I operate with Canon Professional Equipment in both stills photography and video capture. For lighting I use Profoto equipment. I always carry spares and back ups.
Are you insured?
I am Insured which covers all my equipment, reshoot, liability and professional indemnity. Evidence of this is available on request.
Will we get to meet you before the wedding day?
Sometimes geographical distance and schedules make this difficult but I am keen to meet my clients prior to the wedding and get to know them and their needs. Wedding planning can be really draining so I like to keep them to the point and post meetings, like to keep up to date with plans so I can make any necessary preparations.
How do we make a wedding photography booking?
Please go to the contact page and fill in as many details as you can and I will get in touch to arrange an initial meeting. This can be on the phone/Skype/ Face to Face.
If you agree that you wish to appoint Chris Yates Photography, then you will be given a copy of the Terms and conditions. If you are happy to proceed then by signing the T&C’s and on receipt of the agreed deposit (based on package), this forms the contract between us.
How can I pay?
The payments are split as follows: Deposit & Balance. Once you have paid the deposit, the balance becomes payable in full 30 days prior to your wedding.
You can make payments on the balance at any time up to the 30 days to your wedding by any of the following means: Cash/ Cheque/ PayPal/ Credit Cards (fees apply).
What happens if we cancel or want to change the date of our wedding?
On the very rare occasion that you might have to cancel or adjust your confirmed wedding date I have a very simple and fair system in place. Should a cancellation happen after a booking unfortunately loose the deposit.
If a cancellation were to happen within three months of the wedding date a 70% payment will be required as it is very unlikely that another booking could be found this close to the wedding date.
If rescheduling is necessary, your deposit can be transferred to your selected date and no fees will be applied.
What if we want to change our package?
I remain fully flexible. However, you can only add and will be committed to your initial order cost.
If you have any questions whatsoever then please do not hesitate to reach out and ask.
